Funding & Hybrid Capital
ABN AMRO uses a wide range of funding sources and programmes to meet the funding requirements of the Group and its subsidiaries.
The availability of a broad range of funding sources provides for the necessary diversification (by product, by currency or by market) to protect the bank against disruptions in the market.
ABN AMRO's funding policy can be summarised as follows:
- to attract long-term liquidity from the market, thus improving our Group liquidity position.
- to remain active with strategic issues in our core markets, in order to:
- support our current investor base and strengthen it through investor diversification.
- be able to enter the capital markets at any time for liquidity purposes.
- to manage and control the maturity profile of ABN AMRO's debt issuance.
- to manage ABN AMRO's credit curve and issuance levels.
Besides long-term debt issuance and equity, ABN AMRO also issues hybrid capital (e.g.
Trust Preferred Securities), which combines characteristics of both debt and equity.
